Converting tables to layers

Use the Convert Tables to Layers feature to gain more precise positioning options and dynamic HTML capabilities for a file that you created using tables (or using NetObjects Fusion, which uses tables to preserve page layout).

Note: You may use this feature only to convert a document in which all body content is contained in tables.

The Convert Tables to Layers feature works on files constructed enitrely with tables. It creates a separate file in which layers replace all table cells. Dreamweaver determines Top and Left coordinates for each layer based on the corresponding table cell's position within the table and the table's position within the page. The resulting layer file looks very similar to the original table file.

To convert tables to layers:

Choose File > Convert > Tables to Layers. Dreamweaver opens the converted file in a new, untitled window.
